This piece was such a bittersweet creation for me. I am incredibly proud of this piece but am deeply saddened by the inspiration behind it. Nipsey Hussle (born Ermias Asghedom) was a rapper, actor, activist and an unsung hero way ahead of his time. Nipsey was a man of principles and prided himself on never forgetting where he came from and giving back to the community that helped make him the success he was. He believed in the progression of his people and helping people realize their purpose in life. On March 31, 2019 he was murdered in cold blood in front of his clothing store where he employed up and coming artists in the area. He leaves behind a family and legacy that can never be forgotten. Nipsey was a huge influence on me as an artist and I just had to pay my respects in the best way I know how. So in honor of Nipsey’s giving spirit and legacy of giving back to where you came from, I will donate 75% of the profits made from this poster design between 4/9/19 -8/15/19 (Nipsey’s birthday) to the YMCA Leaders club in New York that helped get me off the streets and on a better path in life. They provide after school and summer activities for grades 6-12 that help kids develop into young and respectable leaders in their communities. They did so much for me in my youth I feel that this is the perfect way to give back. You can read more about their program here and even donate yourself if you’d like. Printed posters are printed on 100# Gloss Text Paper and are sent in standard mailing envelopes or poster tubes depending on the size. Mounted posters are printed on foam board. Framed Posters are printed on the same Gloss Text Paper and then framed in a standard black glass front loading frame.
